The Totem Wind is a totally unique four driver, three-way speaker system Just as
with a totem pole it has many faces and tells a story. The Wind blends a nonobtrusive,
acoustically advanced design with an unparalleled ability for recreating
an ambient, life-size musical representation. It extends beyond the confines of
room and space. The design did take four years and as with our other designs
Totem doesn't uses computers to develop… only using human hearing, with a lot
of patience and passion choosing the right components, judge the sound quality,
harmonically moulding. Finally, the new design was presented by Vince Bruzzese
in 2001 at the Las Vegas CES show. Listeners agreed unanimously, this was a
very special and unique design! Sound was fluent; timing, rhythm, harmony… all
seemed to be just right! Vince had yet again surpassed himself…
Technically the Wind is a high-principled product. The multiple midranges with a
3" voice coil, wrap-around neodymium magnet structure and cast frame have a
accurate linear throw and allow for an incredible amount of musically
informative material to transpire in space with ease. The 8.1/2" cast frame woofer
is specially damped and has a high power handling with long throw
characteristics. The 1" alloy dome tweeter has a flexible linear suspension and a
special low resonance chambered unit. The sound level possibilities - up to
114dB! - of this large dynamic system also facilitate large and complex musical
demonstrations. Design and performance are brought forth in a flexible and
manageable equilibrium.
The cabinet with it's many faces is truly a form of art in furniture construction. The
outside looks very complex but even more complex is the inside! Variable in
density MDF, veneered in and outside with the most striking veneer; available in
cherry, maple, mahogany and black ash; lock mitre corners improve rigidity.
Multilayer borosilicate damping to avoid energy to accumulate on the surface.
With this revolutionary cabinet it's possible to achieve a real pin point sound
image - on- and off-axis!
