Description
Would you like to drive your car, our Handybus or Chairman car?
We urgently require more local drivers to help those in need.
We are a volunteer organisation which provides transport to medical appointments, shopping trips and social visits for elderly people and others who are unable to use public transport.
Can you help us to help others?
How much time must I give? The choice is up to you. We do not expect a regular commitment. The office will contact you regarding a potential job - it will be your choice to do it or not.
Who pays for my petrol? We offer a mileage allowance so that you are not out of pocket.
What about my insurance? Your insurance company should be notified that you are volunteer driving, but not for gain or reward. In nearly all cases they do not charge any additional premium for voluntary work.
What type of journeys can I be expected to do? Journeys can be long or short; it depends on the type of driving that you like to do. The choice is yours.
Can I drive the Handybus? Yes, if you pass the special driving test required.
