September 2006 – applications recommended now. Holy Cross is in the planning. It is a private school in the Twin Cities Metro/West Wisconsin – strong in the arts and humanities with an arts integrated curriculum. We value individual students and their unique learning style. We are an Interfaith and International School. HCI will find vetted host homes for students from outside the region. The philosophy is one that respects diversity and Jungian principles. We have Quaker values, but we are not dictated by any one faith. Peace and Justice are strong points. As an interfaith school we look for Judeo-Christian friendship in our community; community outreach is also valued. At full capacity we expect 300 students. Small is good. HCI is a “safe” school. Bigotry is bad. Students will have a warm, home-like environment, but there is a student code of behavior. Manners are taught in a required Life Skills course. Holy Cross is a school where respect is taught and generated by example. Willingness to participate in student life is urged. There is a sports program planned - the crews are the Silver Shamrocks. They shine.
Pioneer Staff hired now will participate in the planning of the school in all areas – recruitment, marketing, public relations, planning student activities, etc. It is an all-staff effort to create a new school. We encourage new and young teachers to apply. A BA/BS (by August 2007) is required. As a “Safe” school we want comfort and diversity in staff and students.
To apply, send a letter by email explaining why you would want to teach and be part of our experience. We will start with only 9th form and add a class a year. Ability to teach two subjects is a plus.
Subject areas needed: French, Swedish/Norwegian, English, Algebra 1, PE-Health, Intro to Science, Art, Voice/Choir, drama, Instrumental music and Concert Band,Dean of Student Services, marketing (Development-PR), coaches.
