ABOUT ROLE
Aviva Co Reconciliation & Control Senior Accountant
Fixed term contract to 30 June 2006
Within Aviva Co Finance there are a number of Group Holding companies which require Oracle General Ledgers to be maintained for all transactions affecting these entities. Currently these ledgers are kept on both an IFRS and UK GAAP basis. Proper controls and reconciliations are also required in support of timely and accurate information. The specifics of this role are:
Monthly maintenance of general ledger for all active Aviva Co companies. This includes ensuring proper account reconciliation and other financial controls are operating on a monthly basis and deliver complete, accurate results. It does not include the identification and posting of transactions
Initiating actions to ensure timely clearance of reconciling items, including intercompany
Escalate material reconciling differences
Contribute to establishing and maintaining industrial strength internal controls which meet both internal and external policies and standards
Rapid movement towards ICFF sign-off without exception.
Significant change in mindset and behaviours to move to ‘ right first time’ and ‘ hard/fast close’ philosophies
Support the implementation of month end checklists and analytical review procedures for management controls
Support to the implementation of new procedures to improve documentation standards
Support to the implementation of new processes to capture data at point of transaction
EXPERIENCE
2-3 years post qualified
Experience of external and internal reporting within large multi-national Groups
Oracle General Ledger experience
Insurance knowledge preferable
IFRS experience preferable
