Description
ABOUT ROLE
To take responsibility for:
Leading & managing the delivery of submissions for all internal / external reporting cycles across all accounting & actuarial reporting bases (see ‘Accountabilities’ below), for specific business units (BU's), with a clear focus on process efficiency & customer service.
Building & maintaining relationships with Financial Controllers & lead reporters for specific BU's, working with the BU's to ensure the accurate & timely preparation of their submissions. Some international travel will be required.
Leading & participating in the range of activities of the team including data collection, data integrity reviews, sub-consolidation reviews, review of business commentary, & analysis / understanding of business results (bottom up & top down) before passing finalised data to the Consolidation & Stakeholder deliverables teams.
Providing technical advice & guidance on own areas of specialist knowledge / training across the whole of Group Reporting Production & Analysis Centre and maintaining close relationships with Group Technical Developments. In particular, responsible for resolving issues of an actuarial or accountancy (as applicable) nature for the whole team.
Contributing to the implementation & operation of a framework which supports businesses in the resolution of actuarial, accounting & Magnitude issues for all bases and types of reporting.
Deputising for the Head of Business Engagement, Support & Analysis as appropriate.
Act as mentor to the other actuaries / accountants (as applicable) in the Group Reporting Production & Analysis Centre.
Contributing to the strategic development of the operations of the function including but not limited to establishing process, excellence & efficiency in the delivery of all operational outputs.
Making a key priority, aspiration & emphasis of the team – “right first time, delivery on time”. A continual reduction in the number of post submission adjustments is a critical success factor.
Making a key priority, aspiration & emphasis of team as – “hard/fast close”. A continual reduction in the number of post submission process days is a critical success factor.
Establishing & maintaining industrial strength internal controls which meet both internal & external policies & standards.
Specifying & participating in the development of Magnitude as a prime user. This will involve inputting to changes in data model, GAAP reconciling entries, system functionality & testing support.
