Job Description:
SUMMARY
Responsible for the direct sale of the company’s products and/or services. Calls on prospective customers, provides technical and administrative product information and/or demonstrations, and quotes appropriate customer prices. Responsible for new account development and/or expanding existing accounts within an established geographic territory. Also responsible for total account management and territory development encompassing all aspects of customer needs and business objectives; coordination of technical and sales support. Account base includes academic and government centres of excellence. Must meet assigned sales quota.
Will be responsible for Switzerland, East France (Grenoble, Metz, Nancy, and Strasburg) and Freiburg in Germany. Can be based anywhere in the territory but centrally in the area would be sensible.
Target of approx. $5.6 million (in instruments, chips and reagents).
Essential Skills:
• Meet and exceed territory chip, instrument, software, and service revenue goals.
• Develop key account plans and form partnerships with key contacts in scientific centres of excellence.
• Support Business Development effort in Europe.
• Work with marketing, customer support, account managers, technical support, and scientific liaison to ensure customer’s satisfaction.
• Deliver effective sales presentations; introduce and promote products and services.
• Provide monthly reports on sales activity, competitive threats and planned seminars.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• BSc degree in biological science or related field.
• 3 years proven sales and sales management experience with similar product line.
• Demonstrated ability to forecast, manage, and meet sales budgets on a consistent basis.
• Intimate knowledge of the key academic customer base, with special emphasis on core laboratory settings.
• Strong technical background in Molecular Biology or Genomics.
• Must have an established network and a strong following.
• Outstanding organizational, planning, process development and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function in a complex business environment is essential.
• Formal presentation and negotiation skills required
• Significant deal structuring and deal negotiation experience. Must be able to support business development effort.
• Superior communication and information sharing with Sales Management in Europe.
• High integrity. Must work independently, and without daily supervision.
• Able to effectively manage from home office.
• Willing and able to travel within the territory and to European HQ in the UK.
• Fluent in French, German and English
