Job Description:
To establish and maintain good working capital control of debtors, and maintain DSO within acceptable limits. This will be achieved by a combination of ensuring the maintenance of customer records by working closely with customer services; working to clear old, open, outstanding and credit balances; monitoring prepayments and management of the production and delivery of manual invoices to customers and reconciliation of prepayments to general ledger; production and sending of monthly customer statements; making suggestions to the Financial Accountant for the allocations of cash received against open invoices on customer accounts. Additionally, the jobholder will be required to review ageing of accounts with manager on a monthly basis to review targets, and provide timely and accurate information for incorporation into financial reporting (eg: reporting on balances greater than 90 days overdue, movement of the bad debt reserve, schedule of major cash balances received in period, etc). Other duties as required.
Essential Skills:
The jobholder is required to demonstrate a minimum of 3 years experience of working in credit control, with a basic working knowledge of accounting. You must be computer literate with a basic knowledge of Excel; a working knowledge of JDE would be an advantage. A second European language (French or German) is essential. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to work as part of a team and be an effective point of liaison with other departments within the Company. The role requires contact with our European customers and you must therefore have an understanding of their cultural and business practices. A positive and flexible approach is required, together with a willingness to learn and develop additional skills.
