What we do
Atkins Industry is comprised of a number of sectors and we are looking to recruit graduate civil engineers to work providing technology-based consultancy and support services in the following Business Units:
Nuclear
Nuclear Graduate Engineers will get involved in a number of projects related to the safety of nuclear licensed sites, including:
assessment of existing safety related structures, systems and components
design, specification and selection of new structures, systems, plant and equipment.
modifications to existing plant to resolve or enhance operational, safety or obsolescence
control of the design process, co-ordination of installation work, commissioning
preparation for plant handover and implementation of maintenance regimes.
Our graduates will take key roles in the management and delivery of projects focussed on prevention, protection and mitigation of accidents, and the safe, reliable operation of new plant, existing operational plant and plant to support safe decommissioning of assets at the end of their life. Graduates are likely to work as an integral member of a client's team, with early responsibility for the delivery of projects. The work must satisfy the statutory requirements of a safety-critical industry, and to be the world's best practice.
Water
We contribute to the successful completion of infrastructure design projects in the fields of Water, Wastewater and Rivers and Coastal. Work involves feasibility studies, computer analysis and engineering design, completion of technical tasks as appropriate, site visits and liaison with clients, contractors, stakeholders and other professional bodies. Clients include all UK water and sewerage companies, the Environment Agency, DEFRA, developers and private industry.
