Coat: Consists of small dense short hard hairs.
Character: This dog is independent, friendly, brave and cheerful.
Temperament: This breed must be introduced at a young age to other household pets. It gets along fine with children and other dogs.
Care: Excess hair in the ear passages must be removed. The claws must be kept short. The coat must be plucked professionally twice a year, and never trimmed.
Training: The Basset Fauve de Bretagne is a hound, so it will be inclined to run off and use its hunting skills. It must be trained to come to you on command.
Activity: This dog needs an average amount of exercise. It is happiest in an environment where it can run and play.
