This is a 1948 Gibson L-12 archtop guitar. Here's how I came to my conclusion. It is a 3-tone sunburst. The finish ( take a good look at the pictures) is inside of the pick-up routs. There are no spots of raw or unfinished wood inside of these routs. This leads me to believe that it is factory. The bracing does not appear to have been cut or altered. It appears to be completely factory. We determined this by taking a dentists-type mirror to look inside. The neck leads me to believe that this may be a special order. A stock neck on an L-12 is single bound. This neck has a 5-ply binding and resembles more of a Super 400 or L-5 type neck. It is my understanding that this model was produced for approxomitly 13 years. It comes with an alligator type original hardshell case. I am very reluctantly selling this guitar. I would love to have this guitar picked up if possible.
