Responsibilities This position within the Global Utilities, Staff Groups and HQ Controllership group will play a key role in the development of the Controllership framework across the CSI-EMEA. This is a newly created role and department. As such, it is a tremendous opportunity to make a difference by establishing and maintaining an adequate internal control structure and procedures for financial reporting integrity.
Primary responsibilities include:
* The development of, continuous monitoring and reporting of key controllership indicators (e.g., unusual transactions, Management Action Plans, Transactions In Difficulty, Balance Sheet account reconciliation/attestation items, accounting issues)
* The development and support of key risk management controllership processes eg Balance Sheet Governance, Sarbanes Oxley and operational self assessment process reviews and coordination with internal/external audit.
* Performance risk based or mgmt requested control and accounting reviews
* Develop and execute training programs focused on internal controls and risk management
* The incumbent will become a trusted business partner on accounting, policy and control
* Support new product development and initiatives to ensure appropriate control focus & accounting treatment during process design
* Support monthly P&L analytics and produce quarterly balance sheet reviews to identify issues and risks.
* Assessment of policy appropriateness during reviews or when stimulated by risk indicators.
*Substantial liaison with the Operational Risk Control group and Market Controllers to ensure an overall effective framework and closure of accounting/control issues.
Required Qualifications A minimum of 6 years of financial and accounting experience including strong internal control experience and knowledge (i.e., COSO framework).
* Understanding of the Balance Sheet and analytical approaches to interpretation.
* A solid understanding of the Sarbanes Oxley Act requirements.
* A degree in Accounting/Finance
* CPA/MBA with public accounting experience. Additional commercial experience preferred.
* US GAAP experience is highly desired
* The successful candidate will be results driven, able to lead and influence without authority and able to function in a matrix environment.
* The individual must be flexible and possess strong verbal and written communication skills
* The incumbent should have a proven ability to build strong relationships, influence and collaborate. Particularly since this is a regional role and requires international coordination.
