Job Description
The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for the delivery of projects of all types and sizes. You will be responsible for the adequate resourcing and technical support for sites and has joint responsibility for Health & Safety and quality on site
Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Day to day management and support of reporting staff
2. Adequate resourcing of management and labour projects
3. Regular visiting and monitoring of projects
4. Identification and arrangement of adequate training of reporting staff
5. Supporting professional development of reporting staff
6. Attendance of Project Inaugurals and Monthly Project meetings
7. Technical Support to Construction Manager in R & D issues
8. Technical guidance to Project Managers / Engineers. The Operations Manager will have the final decision in Construction methods and techniques to be employed in the course of carrying out projects
9. Day to day project level Plant and Equipment (P & E) issues. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the timely notification of P & E requirements and the accounting of equipment
10. Overall resource management and allocation including planning issues (interface with Planning Manager)
11. Support to the Construction Manager in P & E strategy issues – e.g. purchase plans for new and replacement P& E
12. Responsible for the recruitment issues for direct and indirect reporting positions
13. Support the Construction Manager in technical input for tendering
14. Joint responsibility with the Construction Manager for Operations systems developments (e.g. implementation of new business processes within the Operations department
15. Project Accounts. The Operations Manager to have an understanding and knowledge of Project Financial status and joint responsibility (with Construction Manager, Business Manager and Transmission Director for profitability
16. Support the Construction Manager on issues and other committee representations
17. Deputies for the Construction Manager when required
18. Day to day HR issues relating to all reporting staff
19. Support the Construction Manager in HR strategy issues
20. Joint responsibility the Construction Manager, Transmission Director and Business Development department for Business Development and Customer relations
21. Project level input to Pre -Sanction Engineering
22. IT equipment authorization and reporting for staff
23. Timesheets and expenses for reporting hourly paid employees
24. Expenses authorization for reporting staff
25. Re-location and profitable deployment of staff during ‘down time’
