Job Summary
Power Systems is a progressive and rapidly expanding part of the Atkins Aviation and Defence Systems business unit. We provide specialist technical mechanical engineering, safety and reliability and project management services to deliver Rolls-Royce Naval Marine and Aero-engine projects and programmes.
We are seeking respected technical capability leaders with an outstanding engineering background with over 10 years of relevant industry or engineering consultancy. They will be experienced in the following fields within aero engine or naval marine context:
Stress and fatigue analysis
Composites
Mechanical Design
System Safety
Nuclear Safety
Integrated Logistics Support
Reliability Centred Maintenance
Requirements
Candidates will by recognised, by their track record and expertise, as an authority in their discipline. They will demonstrate strong capabilities to:
Uphold the technical dimension of the business (vested in our staff)
Apply necessary and sufficient technical standards in the appropriate disciplines
Consistently meet industry best practice (and frequently delight) in service delivery
They will be required to:
Set, communicate and enforce appropriate technical standards in assigned discipline
Assist in Monitor and appraise senior technical staff on a regular basis
Interpret clients’ wants and needs effectively for Atkins staff and contractors
Apply knowledge and experience effectively in the project planning (or bid) stages
Anticipate and prevent errors on projects
Research and apply industry best practice
Contribute to performance reviews / appraisals of selected staff
Establish discipline’s Method Owners and Method Engineers
Train and mentor staff (on or off-the-job) and support their progression
Develop and uphold the system for identifying and delegating responsibilities
Establish discipline’s Approval Signatories
Lead the development and exploitation of new technologies for the business
Engage with the wider technical community (professional bodies, learned societies, conferences, seminars), and encourage the same in others.
