Responsibilities

This is primarily an Underwriting role which will require strong, confident underwriting decision making skills, but will also require you to build relationships and develop opportunities to enhance our reputation. It will be your role to support the relationship on a day-to-day basis, including training and developing understanding of ouu criteria.

The on site Underwriter is a role based within a key intermediary office, (and supporting other brokers in the area) to process deals in a compliant and commercial way. Working out in the field, this is an autonomous and challenging position offering an excellent opportunity to build a highly commercial and high profile role.

Key responsibilities:
* To manage the end to end underwriting process for key brokers
* To maximise business for the First National brand by providing advice to key brokers on process and compliance issues
* To work closely with Head Office departments to continuously improve process and business levels
* To build excellent partnerships with key brokers to maximise profitable business
* To become a market expert and identify best practice from other businesses that could be used by First National.


Qualifications

* 3-5 years experience in the 1st mortgage market
* A current undewriting mandate of 150,000
* Excellent working knowledge of the pre and post offer underwriting process
* Excellent relationship building skills, able to establish instant credibility with key intermediaries by taking a proactive approach to solving problems
* A passion about customer service
* Effective influencing skills, able to deal positively with conflict
* Confident decision maker, able to make commercial decisions without compromising compliance, service, business quality
* A commercial outlook, keen to identify business opportunities and act on them
* Clear communicator, confident presenting information to third parties
* The ability to work effectively in a field based role, i.e. self motivation, time management, proactive communication with line manager
* The ability to work to targets and maintain accurate MI and measurement
