Function Overview:
Carillion Roads Projects delivers Multi-Disciplinary Projects, in all the major disciplines of Statutory Process, Design, Civil Engineering Contracting, and Operations and Maintenance to Key Clients with a focus in particular on Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), Target Cost and Design Build Finance Operate (DBFO) schemes.
Clients include: The Highways Agency, Transport Wales, and selected Local Authorities.
We have successfully delivered several major schemes eg M6 Jct 21 to 21A Widening (new Thelwall Viaduct), M65 Blackburn Southern Bypass Phase 1, Heartlands Spine Road, Derby Southern Bypass, M40 DBFO, A55 DBFO, A13 Dagenham and M6 Toll.
Purpose of Role:
To plan and supervise the day-to-day construction activities at site level, and ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner in line with Carillion’s integrated management systems on the A249 Contact near Sittingbourne. Must have previous roads and / or structures experience.
Key Role Objectives:
As well as demonstrating competence in subordinates key objectives:
- Determine resources (labour, plant, equipment and subcontract
requirements) and assign responsibilities for roles and tasks
necessary for the satisfactory completion of the works.
- Monitor and control the supply of materials to control cost, productivity
and meet programme
- Maintain and comply with systems for managing site health and safety
and welfare.
- Inspect, prepare and maintain the site in a satisfactory condition for
the safe execution of the works.
- Motivate personnel and arrange for effective productivity and economic
use of labour, plant and subcontract resources and achievement of
required quality within any environmental constraints.
- In conjunction with the engineering staff, determine methods of working
and programme of works.
- Maintain on-site administrative systems to ensure integrated
management systems are adhered to.
- Ensure the provision of information on methods and programmes to
enable the completion of the works.
- Monitor and record works where required to enable financial recovery.
- Implement disciplinary and grievance procedures as required by
prevailing conditions
- Monitor expenditure against budget and monitor progress of works
against programme.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with the Client,
general public and other 3rd parties.
