Overall job purpose
To act as an integral part of the team leading and coordinating work on prioritised topic areas, as agreed.
Key responsibilities
* To lead on the development of the Healthcare Commission’s improvement programme within the mental health sector.
* To be responsible for the delivery of agreed mental health improvement reviews.
* To work closely with the methods team and other departments within the Healthcare Commission to ensure that mental health improvement methodologies are designed in accordance with the agreed principles.
* To work closely with other regulatory bodies e.g. Commission for Social Care Inspection, Mental Health Act Commission, National Treatment Agency, Audit Commission to ensure that our improvement programme is developed collaboratively and is coherent across the sector.
* To ensure that the improvement work keeps abreast of overall developments in legislation and government policy on mental health.
* To work closely with NHS and independent sector healthcare organisations, and service users and carers to ensure that they are included in the development of our mental health improvement methodologies.
* To attend internal planning meetings and share responsibility for outside engagements
* To contribute to future Healthcare Commission initiatives, contributing as appropriate to prioritisation of future topics for improvement work.
* To line manage a payband 3 project officer with integrated inspection responsibilities.
* To contribute to the patient focused organisational goals of the Healthcare Commission by recognising and promoting equal citizenship both within the Healthcare Commission itself and in dealings with all stakeholders.
