Overall purpose of job:
This position is within the Network Management Centre which is responsible for providing support and administration for our
servers and network.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
The role requires the applicant to work Monday to Friday for 3 Weeks from 9.00-18.00 and for 1 week from 12.00-21.00.
Troubleshooting and fault escalation, perform routine
maintenance, network and server testing to maintain its integrity.
Working as part of a team, you should have the maturity to work
under pressure, and have excellent proven problem solving skills. You will be expected to communicate with corporate clients via telephone, email and face to face should therefore possess
good verbal and written communication skills.
Take responsibility for allocated roles during shifts to include
Fault finding, monitoring, proactive support, auditing and customer communication.
Handling customer calls and e-mails working to make sure they
are responded to in a professional manor and in accordance with the teams SLA.
Regular communication with customers on their tickets and
the status of the services provided by the company.
Make regular physical checks of the data centers and facilities.
Communication with suppliers and service providers on behalf
of the company outside of normal business.
Support other parts of the business in achieving company goals.
Help customers both internal and external with the installation
of equipment and hands on troubleshooting.
Arrange access following standard security process for customers
visiting the data centers.
First response for troubleshooting and hands on for shared
platforms and infrastructure.
Principle point of contact for fault escalation chain for shared
platforms and infrastructure.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
UNIX administration experience in a commercial environment.
Exposure to Shell scripting, C or Perl would be an advantage.
Knowledge of Internet protocols (such as TCP/IP).
Network routing or CISCO hardware use would be an advantage.
Good knowledge of Internet server applications such as Web
(Apache), DNS, Sendmail, News.
