When you order lime wash samples, you are not just testing a color; you are testing how that color interacts with your specific wall’s texture, porosity, and lighting conditions. The same sample can appear lighter, darker, warmer, or cooler depending on the time of day and the artificial light in the room. Furthermore, the application technique itself—the pressure of the brush, the number of coats, and the dampness of the substrate—will influence the final outcome. Applying your samples yourself, or having your contractor do so, gives you a hands-on understanding of the product's consistency and coverage, which is invaluable for planning the full-scale project. To properly test your samples, always apply them to a primed board or a discreet section of the actual wall you plan to paint.
